Alyssa Pointer is a visual storyteller. She is a full-time staff photojournalist for The Atlanta Journal-Constitution. No matter her surroundings, she strives to create impactful images of the people and places within a community. She loves challenging her visual perspective with daily assignments and finds the most joy in working on long term projects.
Alyssa graduated from Western Kentucky University's prestigious photojournalism program. She spent a year as a resident staff photojournalist for the Chicago Tribune. Alyssa's work has been recognized by the Hearst Journalism Awards , National Press Photographers Association Best of Photojournalism, Time Magazine's 100 Photos of the Year (twice), Georgia Associated Press Media Editors Contest and the Atlanta Photojournalism Seminar.
