Alyssa Pointer is a visual storyteller. She is a full-time staff photojournalist for The Atlanta Journal-Constitution. No matter her surroundings, she strives to create impactful images of the people and places within a community. She loves challenging her visual perspective with daily assignments and finds the most joy in working on long term projects. 

Alyssa graduated from Western Kentucky University's prestigious photojournalism program. She has interned as a visual storyteller for Creative Loafing Atlanta, the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel, the Louisville Courier-Journal and the New York Times Student Journalism Institute. In addition, she spent a year as a resident staff photojournalist for the Chicago Tribune. Alyssa's work has also been recognized by both the Hearst Journalism Awards and the Atlanta Photojournalism Seminar competitions.
